Privacy Policy

Last updated . Applies to calculateinterestpay.com. US law and en-US.

In plain English

  1. You can use every calculator without an account, and we do not receive what you type into a calculator.
  2. Your display, accessibility, consent and recent-search settings are kept in your own browser and are never sent to us.
  3. We only collect your name, email and message when you choose to contact us or join the newsletter.
  4. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  5. You can ask to know, access, correct or delete your information by writing to [email protected].

Who we are

CalculateInterestPay (“we,” “us,” “our”) runs calculateinterestpay.com, a free consumer calculator and personal-finance education website for people in the United States. Our legal entity details are being finalized; a postal address for legal notices is available on request from [email protected].

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices and rights you have. It applies to calculateinterestpay.com and the calculators shown on it. It does not apply to websites you reach through links on our site, or to businesses that embed our calculators on their own websites; those sites have their own privacy policies.

The short version

  • You do not need an account, and we do not run user accounts.
  • We do not receive the numbers you type into a calculator.
  • Your site settings live in your own browser and are not sent to us.
  • We only receive personal information when you send it to us through the contact form or newsletter form, and through ordinary server logs kept for security.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and there is no cross-site tracking on our site today.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, account passwords, health information or precise location.

Calculators

Our calculators run in an embedded frame served by our calculator service provider from our app domain. What you type into a calculator is used to work out and display your results. The calculator may keep your inputs in that frame’s browser storage so they are still there if you reload the page. That storage stays on your device until you clear it.

We do not receive your calculator inputs. On our own website there is no lead form inside the calculators. If a calculator on another business’s website offers to send your results to that business and you choose to do so, that business receives the information under its own privacy policy.

Information stored in your browser

We use your browser’s local storage to remember a few settings for you. These items are never sent to us and remain until you clear them.

ItemWhat it remembers
cip-themeYour light, dark or system theme choice
cip-paletteYour color palette choice
cip-a11yYour text size, contrast, motion and link-highlighting preferences
cip-consentYour cookie choices and the date you made them
cip-recentYour most recent searches in our site search

Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie and storage item in detail and lets you change your choices.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We sort cookies and similar technologies into three categories:

  • Essential (always on): the storage items above and, on the contact page only, a necessary security token from Cloudflare Turnstile.
  • Analytics (off until you allow it): Google Analytics 4. It loads only after you allow Analytics and only if the site has analytics configured. Analytics is not configured today, so nothing loads.
  • Advertising (off until you allow it): ads are currently switched off. If we enable ads in the future, they will load only after you allow Advertising, and our Cookie Policy will name the ad network before that happens.

We do not use cross-site tracking today.

How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • answer your questions, corrections, partnership enquiries and other messages;
  • send the newsletter you signed up for, and stop sending it when you unsubscribe;
  • protect our site, forms and visitors from spam, abuse, fraud and attacks;
  • keep the site working, fix errors and improve our content;
  • understand overall site usage, but only if analytics is enabled and you allow it;
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

We disclose personal information only:

  • To service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions, such as Cloudflare (website hosting, server logs and Turnstile spam protection), the providers that operate our serverless functions, inbox and mailing tool, our calculator service provider and, only if enabled and allowed by you, Google Analytics.
  • For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or court order, or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our visitors, us or others.
  • In a business transfer, if CalculateInterestPay is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to information transferred.
  • With your direction, when you ask us to share something.

Some pages include clearly labelled “Compare offers” or “Talk to a pro” links that pass through a /go/ page before taking you to a partner’s website. We do not pass your calculator inputs or contact details to partners through these links. Once you leave our site, the partner’s privacy policy applies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how these links work.

How long we keep information

  • Browser storage: until you clear it. We cannot see or delete it for you.
  • Contact messages: only as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, keep a record of the conversation and meet legal obligations.
  • Newsletter email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Server and security logs: only as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and legal purposes.

How we protect information

Our site is served over HTTPS. Forms are protected against spam and abuse, and access to messages and mailing lists is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the information we hold.

Children’s privacy

Our site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has sent us personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the state you live in, including California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and why;
  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Portability, meaning a copy in a commonly used, machine-readable format;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising (we do not do either);
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it);
  • Appeal a decision we make about your request;
  • Non-discrimination, meaning we will not treat you differently for using your rights.

To make a request, email [email protected] or follow the instructions on our Data Request page. We will verify your request, may accept requests from an authorized agent, and will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend that by another 45 days and will tell you why.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out and apply the “essential only” setting, so Analytics and Advertising stay off. Because we do no cross-site tracking, there is no tracking for a Do Not Track signal to switch off; GPC is the signal we use to apply your choice automatically.

Our site is designed for people in the United States and is operated under US law. If you visit from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our site or the law changes. When we do, we will change the “updated” date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will give more prominent notice before it takes effect.

Questions about this policy

Do you see the numbers I enter into a calculator?

No. Your calculator inputs are used inside the calculator frame to show your results and may be saved in that frame's browser storage so they survive a reload. They are not sent to us unless you choose to send them to a business yourself.

Do I need an account to use CalculateInterestPay?

No. There are no user accounts on our site, so we do not hold a profile, password or saved history for you.

Do you sell my personal information?

No. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted ads.

Do you use Google Analytics?

Not at the moment. Analytics is not configured, so nothing loads. If we turn it on in the future, Google Analytics will only load after you allow the Analytics category in your cookie settings.

Do you honor Global Privacy Control?

Yes. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and apply the essential-only setting automatically.

How do I delete my information?

Email [email protected] or follow the steps on our data request page. Settings stored in your browser can be removed at any time by clearing your site data.

Still have a question?

Write to us and a person will reply, usually within 2 business days.
