What we may hold about you

Because there are no accounts on our site, we hold very little personal information. We may hold:

  • your name, email address, topic and message, if you used our contact form;
  • your email address, if you joined our newsletter;
  • technical information such as your IP address in our hosting provider’s server logs, kept for security.

We do not hold your calculator inputs or your site settings. Those are stored only in your browser.

Information you control in your browser

You can remove these yourself at any time, without making a request:

  • Site settings (cip-theme, cip-palette, cip-a11y, cip-consent, cip-recent): clear site data for calculateinterestpay.com in your browser settings.
  • Calculator inputs: clear site data for our app domain, where the calculator frame stores them.
  • Cookie choices: use the Change cookie settings button on our Cookie Policy page.
  • Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.

How to make a request

Email [email protected] and include:

  1. the type of request (know, access, correct, delete or portability);
  2. your name and the email address you used with us;
  3. for a correction, what is wrong and what it should say;
  4. your state of residence, so we can apply the right law;
  5. if you are an authorized agent, proof of your authority (see below).

Please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or bank details. We will never ask for them.

How we verify your request

To protect your information, we must confirm that a request comes from you. We will usually ask you to confirm control of the email address you used with us, for example by replying from that address or using a link we send. We will match the information you give against what we hold. If we cannot verify your identity, we will tell you and explain why. We use the information you provide for verification only to verify and respond to your request.

Authorized agents

You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you. The agent must provide your signed written permission or a valid power of attorney. Unless the agent has a power of attorney, we may also ask you to verify your identity directly and confirm that you gave permission.

When we will respond

  • We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days.
  • We will respond within 45 days of receiving your request.
  • If we need more time, we may extend this by another 45 days, and we will tell you within the first 45 days and explain why.
  • Requests are free. We may decline or charge a reasonable fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, or for more than two requests to know or access in a 12-month period, and we will explain our reasons.

If we cannot fully complete a request

The law sometimes allows or requires us to keep certain information, for example to complete a transaction you asked for, detect security incidents, comply with a legal obligation or defend legal claims. If we cannot fully complete your request, we will tell you which part we could not complete and why.

Appeals

If we deny your request in whole or in part, you can appeal. Reply to our decision, or email [email protected] with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will review the decision and respond in writing within the time your state’s law requires, generally within 45 to 60 days. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact your state attorney general.

Global Privacy Control

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out request and apply the “essential only” setting, so Analytics and Advertising stay off. You do not need to send us a separate request.

More information

Our Privacy Policy explains in full what we collect, how we use it and who we share it with. For any other privacy question, email [email protected].
